Tuesday morning on our way to the Belle Chasse ferry crossing, we took a different route to see this dilapitated graveyard. Yes, this is a graveyard. Because these people (not the dead ones obviously) live below sea level, they don’t bury their dead underground. Instead, they build these concrete holders for the coffins. When Hurricane Isaac came through, the flood lifted these graves from their places and scattered them across the road. They were cracked, broken and pretty much ruined. You can only imagine the smell 🙂 And the despair.
